Leland grinned and lifted her dress higher to expose her mound, dividing his attention between the soft-looking curls and her breast. “We can’t leave you this way. It feels good, doesn’t it, honey? I’m just going to part your folds so I can see your pretty clit. It feels so swollen and it’s drenched with your juices.”
“Oh, God.”
Joe absorbed her shudder, his cock jumping at the sight of Leland bending her leg and pulling it against him. Unable to resist, he ran his own hand down her body to stroke the delicate, pink flesh between her thighs. “God, the scent of her—the scent of her arousal—is driving me out of my mind. My cock feels as if it’s about to explode.”
Her cries continued, each as potent to his senses as a stroke to his cock.
Leland slid to his knees between her legs, his nostrils flaring. “Christ, she smells incredible.” His expression hardened as he bent forward, his eyes closing in bliss as he ran his tongue through her slit. “Hmm. Delicious.”
Joe wanted to push Leland out of the way, and taste her for himself, but one glance at her face had him bending toward her again. Sliding his hand back up to caress her breast, he gritted his teeth against the hunger, and kept his voice soothing. “You’re so beautiful.”
He watched as the passion consumed her, the flush to her cheeks the sweetest and most arousing thing he’d ever seen.
Her cries of passion nearly made him come in his jeans, his hunger for her ripping at his control. Her eyes, slightly unfocused and dark with passion stayed on his, her hands gripping him tightly as she called his name.
“I’ve got you. Yes. That’s it. Let go. Christ, I love the way you feel in my arms.” He had to raise his voice to be heard over her cries. “So beautiful.”
He’d never in his life wanted like this. He’d never dreamed it was possible to want anything the way he wanted her, the tender emotions she brought out in him nothing short of amazing.
He caressed her through her orgasm, wanting to drag the incredible moment out as long as possible. Hungry for more, he bent to take her breast into his mouth, his chest swelling when her cries grew louder and she clutched his head to her breast.
“Yes. Oh, God. It feels so good. No more. Please. No more.”
Joe gathered her trembling body closer, brushing his lips over her velvety cheek as he breathed her in. “Okay, my love. No more. Easy, honey. Just let me hold you.”
Nothing had ever feel as good—as natural—as the way she felt in his arms.
So soft.
So firm.
So intoxicating.
His hunger for her went way behind sex.
Beyond physical.
The trust and desire in her eyes filled him with a kind of satisfaction that tugged at his emotions, while the soft pink creeping into her cheeks made his chest swell with pride.
He glanced at Leland, just in time to see his pack mate lift his head, his lips still shiny with her juices.
His gaze went to hers, the hunger in his eyes unmistakable. “So sweet. I could make a meal of her.” The low growl in his voice had deepened, and to Joe’s surprise, Leland bent his head again. Placing a reverent kiss on her mound and thighs, he sighed. He lifted his head with a groan, the hunger in his eyes unmistakable as he stared down at her slit. Lifting his gaze to hers, he pulled her dress down again.
Swallowing heavily, Leland smoothed her dress, his reluctance to cover her obvious as his gaze raked over her. Sitting back in the chair, he never took his eyes from her. “Give her to me.”
Despite the underlying steel in his voice, Leland appeared shaken.
“No.” Joe turned back to stare down into her sparkling eyes, not willing to relinquish his hold on her.
Irritated when she averted her gaze and her cheeks turned even redder, he tightened his arms to hold her when she pushed at him. “Hey! Baby, what’s wrong?”
“Let me up.”
Reminding himself that alarming her now would only make gaining her trust more difficult, he forced himself to release her, clenching his jaw when she jumped from his lap.
Pulling the edges of her dress together, she rushed to the sink, as if anxious to put distance between them. “Oh, God. I’m sorry.”
Baffled, Joe frowned, trying to hold her gaze as she attempted to rebutton her dress with hands that shook. “For what, honey?” He couldn’t resist a quick glance downward, rewarded with a glimpse of the curve of her breast before she could cover it.
“For what just happened. Jesus.” With a jerk of her hand, she opened the upper cabinet on her left, reaching in for a glass. “I can’t believe I was so stupid.”
Shaking her head, she filled the glass from the tap. “Stupid. The heat fried my brain or something.” With a sharp twist of her wrist, she turned off the faucet and gulped the contents of the glass. She glanced in their direction, not making eye contact with either of them, before turning back to stare out the window. “I don’t do things like that.”
Slamming the glass on the counter, she bowed her head, her dejected posture knotting his stomach. “Damn it.”
He couldn’t stand it if she regretted what they’d done. “Glenna—”
“I’m sorry. I don’t do things like that.” She ran a shaking hand through her hair, tears welling in her eyes. “Please, just forget it ever happened. It’s been a hell of a day.”
Leland shot to his feet. “No! I’m not going to forget it, and I’m sure as hell not going to let you forget it. Damn it, Glenna. That was incredible.” He went to her, spinning her to face him. “Are you going to try to tell me that you didn’t feel the chemistry between us?”
Joe rose just as Leland yanked Glenna against him, fisting his hands at his sides as he fought the urge to tear her out of his friend’s arms. He didn’t even bother trying to suppress his growl, stopping short at the desire in her eyes as she looked up at Leland.
Leland growled and sounded something that sounded suspiciously like thank God, before wrapping himself around her as if he never wanted to let her go, and plundered her mouth with his own. Sliding his hands to her bottom, he lifted her to the counter, covering her breast with one hand while fisting the other in her hair.
Swallowing her cries, he eased the pressure of his kiss, lifting his head to brush his lips over hers, groaning his pleasure when she followed his mouth to deepen the kiss again. His smile of satisfaction had a tightness to it, one that Joe would bet was born of frustration and hunger. “Now try to pretend there’s nothing there. I feel it, too. Don’t try to blame it on having a bad day.”
Glenna’s eyes flashed with a combination of anger and desire that made his cock leak moisture. “You bastard!” Breathing hard enough to make her breasts heave, she pushed at Leland, her eyes widening when he didn’t move at all. “Get out!”
Leland stilled, and for the first time in Joe’s memory, appeared apprehensive. “I’m sorry, honey. I came on too strong. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable with me.” Bending, he touched his lips to her forehead. “We’re going to leave, and give you some time alone. I’ll call you later to check up on you.”
“Don’t bother.”
Lifting her chin, he raised a brow, a faint smile playing at his lips. “If you don’t answer the phone, I’ll come check on you.”
Stepping to the side, Glenna shook her head. “There’s no need. I’m fine.”
“I’m calling you, and if you don’t answer, I’ll be here.”
“No. I want to be alone.”
“Then, answer the phone.”
“You don’t have my number.”
“You called Thomas. He’ll give it to me. Answer it.”
“But, I—”
“I wouldn’t.” A muscle worked in Leland’s jaw. “I wouldn’t push the issue if I were you. It’s hard enough for me to leave you. I’ll talk to you later—on the phone, or in person. I prefer in person, but this time it’ll be your choice.”
Joe didn’t move as Leland turned and stormed out as if he didn’t trust his
control. Crossing his arms over his chest, he waited for Glenna to look at him.”
Instead, she filled the glass again and sipped at it. “I don’t know what came over me.”
Joe couldn’t help but smile at that. “I think that applies to all of us.” Pleased that she turned to look at him, he smiled faintly. “You kind of knocked me for a loop, my love. You don’t think I normally act this way, do you? Or Leland does?”
Her cheeks flushed again. “I suppose you think I just let two men put their hands all over me every day.”
“No.” Slowly lifting a hand, he brushed his fingers over her cheek. “I don’t think that at all, and neither does Leland. We think that you feel the attraction we feel, and I think it confuses you as much as it confuses us. We don’t want to upset you, and we certainly don’t want to leave you, but I think we all need to get our bearings again before we say or do something we’d regret.”
Stepping closer, he lifted her chin. “That doesn’t mean this is over. Not by a long shot. It’s just too important to mess up.” Pulling the pen and pad of paper on the counter toward him, he started to write. “This is my cell phone number, and this is the number to the farm. I want you to call me tonight. After you eat, and after your sister calls you. When you’ve calmed down a little. I want to make sure you’re all right, and to figure out how we can move forward without scaring you.”
Her eyes narrowed, suspicion and desire an enticing combination. “I’m not so sure that’s a good idea.”
He smiled at that. “You don’t really think this thing between us is really going to go away, do you?”
She hesitated, averting her eyes and making his stomach clench. “Joe, do you really think this is a good idea?”
Joe smiled at that. “Baby, at this point, I don’t think there’s any choice.” Bending, he touched his lips to hers. “I’m going to do everything in my power to make you mine.”
He’d never meant anything more.
Chapter Three
Picking at the salad she’d prepared for herself for dinner, Glenna alternately stared at her cell phone in the center of the table, and the pad of paper she’d placed beside it.
She’d already memorized the number written in Joe’s bold handwriting, but found her gaze drawn to it again and again. Each time she did, she remembered the look of affection and hunger in his eyes when he’d handed it to her.
She still couldn’t believe what an impact they’d already made on her.
What should have made her feel cheap and used, had instead made her feel cherished and adored.
Her body still hummed with a strange awareness—a combination of lethargy from the pleasure they’d given her, and the stirring of need and excitement at the thought of seeing them again.
It left her jittery with anticipation, and nervous as hell.
Getting to her feet, she smoothed her hand over the cotton nightgown she’d changed into after her shower, and threw the remainder of her salad away, staring out the window as she washed her dishes.
The quiet of the house left her feeling unsettled, adding to the restlessness that wouldn’t allow her to sit still for long.
She’d just finished drying and putting away the dishes when the house phone rang, the sound loud in the oppressive silence.
Glancing at the cell phone and pad of paper again, she went to answer it, knowing it would be her sister.
“Hello?”
“Hey, honey. How’s it going?”
Glenna couldn’t help but smile as she thought about all that had happened since her sister left that morning. “Everything’s fine. How was your flight?”
“It was on time, which is probably the best thing I could say about it. I hate flying.”
Remembering how nervous Fiona had been the time they’d flown to Florida together to visit their parents, Glenna grimaced. “Yeah, I know. I’m just glad you got there okay. What do you think of the hotel?”
“It’s very nice. Not quite as nice as I expected, but it’ll be fine.”
For the first time in Glenna’s memory, Fiona sounded really scared.
Something in her sister’s voice had Glenna frowning. “And they’re going to let you live there for three months before you have to find your own place?”
“Yes, I’ve got time to look around. Don’t you worry about me. I’m worried about you paying the bills without my salary.” Fiona sighed and a pregnant silence followed. “Something tells me this wasn’t a good idea.”
Getting an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach, Glenna gripped the edge of the counter top. “What’s wrong? And don’t tell me it’s nothing because I can hear it in your voice.”
Fiona sighed again. “I shouldn’t have come here.”
Stilling at the doubt in her usually self-confident sister’s voice, Glenna struggled to inject confidence into her own. “You were so excited about this. What’s wrong?”
The hotel that her sister had managed right outside of town would be closing its doors in just a few weeks, and her sister would have been out of a job if she hadn’t transferred. “Come back home.”
“Not too many opportunities there for me. Look, it’ll be fine. You have my cell number. Keep in touch, and I’ll keep you posted about finding a place. Then, when you take vacation time, you can come visit me.”
Glenna’s eyes welled with tears, but she swallowed the lump in her throat and struggled to keep her voice steady. “Absolutely.”
“Well, I have to go. Love you. Behave yourself.”
“Love you back.” Glenna waited until Fiona hung up, wiping away a tear as she slowly replaced the receiver.
She thought about the lonely holidays ahead, holidays that she and her sister normally spent alone because her parents were travelling with other people their own age.
Irritated at herself for her mood, she moved to the table again, wondering if she should call Joe. His lighthearted teasing would be a welcome distraction, and hopefully end her pity party.
She picked up the receiver to call him, hanging it up again just as quickly. She didn’t know what to say to him, and didn’t want to appear clingy.
He probably already regretted leaving his number.
The cell phone rang, startling her out of her reverie.
She moved slowly to the table, swallowing heavily as she picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Glenna? You sound sad. Is something wrong?”
Stiffening at the concern in Leland’s deep voice, she fought to swallow the lump in her throat. “Of course not. I’m fine.”
A short silence followed. “You’re lying, and for some reason, it’s pissing me off more than it should. If you don’t tell me what’s wrong, I’ll come over and find out myself.”
“No. Don’t.” She took a deep breath and blew it out in a rush. “Despite what happened earlier, you don’t know me well enough to know if I’m sad or not. I’m just in a mood.” Swallowing another lump, she went to the table and dropped into one of the chairs, running her fingers over the numbers Joe had written on the pad of paper earlier. “Look, we barely know each other. I’m sure you and Joe both think I’m an easy lay, and after what happened this afternoon, I can’t blame you for—”
“Don’t go there.” His sharp words cut her off. “What happened today was arousing as hell. Both Joe and I wanted you badly. I still do. My cock’s been hard ever since, and staying away from you tonight is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. If all I wanted from you was sex, I would have fucked you right there in your kitchen.”
Glenna sucked in a breath, stunned by the rush of moisture between her thighs. “You’re blunt.”
“I’m honest, and I’m sure as hell going to demand honesty from you. What did you have for dinner?”
“Salad.”
“That’s not a damned dinner.”
She couldn’t help but laugh at his disgruntled voice. “Probably not for someone as big as you are, but it is for me. How tall are you anyway?”
“Six-
six. What time do you get home from work tomorrow?”
“Look, Leland—”
“Hell, I love the way you say my name.” His voice lowered and deepened, sending an erotic shiver through her. “I love the breathless hitch in it when you’re aroused. I want to hear that when my cock’s deep inside you.”
Glenna couldn’t hold back a gasp, her pussy clenching at the thought of Leland taking her. “Leland, I don’t think it’s possible.” She heard the wobble in her voice and could only hope that he hadn’t.
“Of course, it’s possible. I’ll make sure you’re nice and wet first, and I’ll work my cock into you so slowly that it just might kill me.”
Jumping from her chair, she paced the kitchen, pressing her thighs together against the ache. “That’s not what I meant and you know it!”
Leland chuckled, a warm sound, filled with amusement, one that she doubted he made often. “I know, baby, but I couldn’t resist. Now, are you going to tell me what time you get home from work tomorrow, or would you rather I just go to your office and wait for you?”
Glenna didn’t want anyone in her office to know about Leland. She didn’t want to have to deal with the questions or the snide remarks from her coworkers. She hadn’t even told her sister. What had happened today with Leland and Joe was her own private fantasy, and she didn’t want to share it with anyone. “If I see you, it’s on the condition that no one else knows about it.”
“You embarrassed about seeing me, Glenna?”
Surprised at the hurt in his tone, Glenna gripped the edge of the countertop, nearly doubling over with arousal. “Leland, we hardly know each other and I’ve already made a fool of myself with both you and Joe. I’d prefer not to have the people I work with know my business.”
She especially didn’t want Dickson Melburne to know about him.
Dickson Melburne worked as a realtor for the same company, and asked her out at least three times a week. He’d slept with every other woman in the office, and she would only be another notch in his bedpost.
Besides, he gave her the creeps.
Leland sighed. “I can understand that. I like my privacy, too, and I don’t particularly care for people who try to meddle in my business.”
